New action plan launched to re-energise county Kilkenny town

A KILKENNY town has put together an innovative plan to battle back against the ongoing effects of the recession.

The Callan Town Improvement Plan, launched recently, aims to use modern technology to assess and address the issues affecting, and opportunities available, to both community life and business in the town.

The Callan Town Improvement Plan 2019 was prepared by the Callan town team drawn from the town’s business community, voluntary and education groups, tidy towns committee, arts, culture and sports groups, the farming community, and tourism groups.

The team was formed in response to the severe impacts of the recession on the town’s businesses and community life. It engaged with Kilkenny County Council in identifying the town’s needs.

The Action Plan was developed from these findings.
