New library kits will allow you to carry out free energy audit of your home

KILKENNY householders can carry out a free energy audit of their home using these new kits thanks to a new green initiative by the local authority.

The energy savings kits are available to borrow from your local library as part of an innovative new waste prevention scheme by Kilkenny County Council

Under the initiative, library members are free to borrow the kits for a two-week period to undertake their own mini-audit at home.

The kits contain six practical tools to help save energy in the home across the key energy areas – space heating, hot water and electricity consumption. They help to identify common problems such as lack of insulation and appliances in the home that contribute to high utility bills and poor ventilation. The kits also contain a helpful step- by-step guide on how to successfully use the tools.

Anyone who borrows the home energy saving kids will also be eligible to enter a competition for a €100 OneforAll voucher run by SEAI and Codema Energy Efficiency Agency.
