Nice work: More and more Kilkenny people returning to employment

More than 200 people signed off the Live Register in Kilkenny last month as lockdown restrictions eased.

New figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveal a total of 2,671 people in Kilkenny signed on at the end of May. This is down from the 2,873 people recorded signing on at the end of April.

The CSO figures also reveal there are actually 600 less people in Kilkenny on the Live Register now than when the Covid-19 crisis started in Ireland back in March last year.

When the pandemic hit, 3,275 people in Kilkenny were signing on the Live Register, 604 more than the current figure and nearly 700 less than May 2020, when 3,370 were signing on.

Nationally, the total number of persons on the Live Register or receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment decreased by 14.1% to 477,915 over the month to the end of May 2021.
