No new deaths as restrictions lifted in Laois and Offaly but Kildare remains in lockdown

There were no new deaths from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.

The total death toll here is now 1,776 while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 27,755 after another 79 were diagnosed.

Of the cases notified today;

  • 39 are men / 40 are women
  • 73% are under 45 years of age
  • 30 are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
  • 21 cases have been identified as community transmission
  • 43 in Dublin, 9 in Kildare, 6 in Cork, 6 in Tipperary and the remaining 15 cases are in Clare, Donegal, Laois, Limerick, Louth, Mayo, Roscommon, Wexford and Wicklow.

Meanwhile, restrictions have been lifted in Laois and Offaly but Kildare remains in lockdown for another two weeks.

Speaking at a post-Cabinet meeting this afternoon, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said in recent days the number of cases has stabilised and is falling, however, he said they are still high.

Mr Donnelly said the 14-day incidence rate in Ireland is 27 per 100,000, while in Kildare it is nearly 200.
