Number plates nicked as driver snacked at Kilkenny fast-food restaurant

A HUNGRY motorist who stopped for a bite at a well-known Kilkenny fast-food restaurant on the outskirts of the city was shocked to discover his trailer’s licence plates were stolen when he returned to his vehicle.

The incident occurred last Monday at around 6pm in the car park of the restaurant on the Hebron Road.

The occupant of the vehicle towing the trailer parked his car and went inside the fast food restaurant. He was not away from his vehicle for long, but when he returned he was shocked to discover the plates had been removed from his trailer while he was inside enjoying his meal.

Gardaí are urging trailer owners to be vigilant of this type of activity if they leave their vehicles unattended for any length of time.

Anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time is urged to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
