O Come All Ye Faithful Kilkenny shoppers
CONSUMERS are being urged to shop local this Christmas and give Kilkenny retailers a boost in the countdown to the festive season.
Retailers in towns and cities across the country have taken a significant hit as a result of the huge shift towards online shopping in recent years.
However, a local initiative – Yulefest Kilkenny – is leading the fightback to promote the wide range of top-quality retailers on our doorstep.
The #shopkilkenny campaign is urging people to make a conscious effort to check out the impressive range of diverse and unique offerings available from local stores, all set against the magical backdrop of Yulefest Kilkenny, over the coming weeks.
Festival Manager Paula Lawlor told KilkennyNow.ie: “It is local businesses that create local jobs, support local clubs, give back to local charities and run local events, and in doing so, they create more opportunity for us all.”
Yulefest Kilkenny is also encouraging visitors and locals to experience everything Kilkenny has to offer by combining shopping with festival activities and events.
To this end, Ms Lawlor is urging local businesses to create in-house events that focus on delivering memorable Christmas shopping experiences for inclusion on the Yulefest Kilkenny website (YulefestKilkenny.ie).
Many local retailers and businesses are planning to launch their own exciting Christmas promotions. One example is ‘Stocking Filler Friday’, which will take place on Friday, December 14, in which participating outlets will provide a range of unique and fun stocking fillers to attract shoppers.
If your business has a Yulefest Special Offer or a planned event, please email the details to email@example.com.
The #shopkilkenny Christmas Campaign is supported by Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce, Yulefest Kilkenny, Kilkenny County Council, Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny, Kilkenny Tourism and individual retailers and businesses.
