Shear delight: Kilkenny sheep farmers share €266,000 payment

Some 260 sheep farmers across Kilkenny will share a combined €266,883 payment under year four of the Sheep Welfare Scheme.

Details of the local payments were announced by Kilkenny TD John Paul Phelan this week. It is part of a €14.7 million spend under the scheme which will be shared among the country’s 18,000 sheep farmers.

Deputy Phelan said: “I am pleased to announce €266,883 will be shared among 260 farm families in Kilkenny under the Sheep Welfare Scheme. The scheme reflects the commitment of the Government to the sheep sector in Ireland and provides a significant financial boost to the individual farmers and the sheep sector in general.”
