OPERATION STORM: 24 arrested in major crackdown on crime in county Kilkenny
Gardai have arrested 24 people as part of the latest crackdown on organised crime targets in county Kilkenny.
The arrests were made in the Thomastown district as part of Operation Storm targeting criminal activity.
Eight of the arrests were on foot of outstanding bench warrants and the remaining 16 were arrested on being involved in crimes recently in the district.
Thirteen of these people arrested have already been charged and will appear in court in the coming days.
The 16 were arrested in connection with a wide range of offences, including sexual assault, fraud, theft, assault, burglary, and criminal damage.
More than 90 gardai took part in the operation, including 26 trainee Gardai, assisted by the Garda Armed Response Unit and the Garda Mounted Unit.
They were supported by staff from the Department of Social Welfare, Customs and Kilkenny County Council.
