Professional thieves distract staff as they burgle county Kilkenny business

A SMALL business in Kilkenny was burgled and an amount of money stolen after it was targeted by a professional gang using sophisticated distraction tactics.

The burglary occurred at Johnstown, Co Kilkenny, at 5.20pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The highly organised gang of five people entered the shop on Main Street. Once in the shop, the gang spread out to distract the staff.

With the staff focusing on some of the gang, one member slipped into a private area of the store. There they located a sum of money and stole it.

The gang member made their way back into the store and the entire gang then fled.

Gardai are seeking the public’s help in tracking down the thieves.

They have appealed to anyone who was on Main Street, Johnstown, from 5pm to 5.30pm on Tuesday, who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area or motorists who may have helpful dashcam footage, to contact Urlingford Garda Station on 056 777 5016.
