Our thin blue line – no new Garda recruits for Kilkenny

NONE of the latest batch of Garda recruits will be stationed in Kilkenny.

More than three quarters of the 201 new recruits from Templemore training college are being sent to Dublin to help combat rising gangland crime.

Thirty gardaí are also being posted to Louth, 25 of whom will be based in Drogheda which is also dealing with a violent drugs feud.

Apart from Kilkenny, there will no new officers allocated to Cork, Kerry, Clare, Wexford, Tipperary, Offaly, Laois, Carlow, Wicklow, Kildare, Longford or Westmeath.
