‘Overwhelmed and overjoyed’- Kilkenny nurse named Midwife of the Year
One of St Luke’s General Hospital’s finest has been names Ireland’s Midwife of the year.
Clare Kennedy won the INMO Midwife of the year 2019 for her outstanding work in developing the integrated community midwifery service for Carlow and Kilkenny.
The service, which officially launched last month, allows women who attend St Luke’s maternity services greater choices in the type of care and birthing options, which were previously unavailable to them, including early home transfers and after birth care.
Clare has the role of Advanced Midwife Practitioner(AMP) at St Luke’s and is the clinical lead for all aspects of physiological evidenced based normal midwifery practice.
Clare took to twitter after receiving her award to convey her disbelief and thank her colleagues for the nomination.
