Plans to transform historic Kilkenny building into new housing development

A historic building in a Kilkenny village, best known as The Ouncel pub, is set to be transformed into a new residential development.

Developers Walsh Sheehan Investments Limited have lodged plans with Kilkenny County Council to build six new residential units on the site on The Square in Johnstown.

As part of the application, Walsh Sheehan are looking to obtain a change of use from commercial zoning to residential zoning.

The plans involve the construction of four one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom, two-storey detached homes.

As a part of the development parts of the existing structure would be demolished, modifications and reconfiguration of the existing structure would take place, as well as some modifications to the existing building’s façade.

A decision on the development is due at the beginning of June.
