THE funeral of a man who was found dead beside his partner at their Kilkenny home will take place tomorrow.
The bodies of Michael Hurley (83) and his partner Mary Holohan (79) were discovered by a relative at their home in Kilderry, Johnswell at 7pm on Wednesday.
Mr Hurley’s remains will lie in repose at Hehir’s funeral home in Kilkenny from 6.30pm this evening. His Requiem Mass will take place at St John’s Church, Kilkenny, at 10.30am tomorrow, with burial afterwards at St Kieran’s Cemetery.
Some media reports have speculated the couple may have died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. However, the cause of their deaths has not yet been established. For the moment, gardai are treating the deaths as a tragic accident.
Post-mortem examinations on the couple’s remains were carried out at University Hospital Waterford yesterday.
The autopsy results will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
