Rocks dislodged by passing trains pose threat to Kilkenny residents: Cllr McGuinness
Passing trains are causing rocks and debris to fall on a laneway, posing a danger to residents in a Kilkenny city estate, according to the chairperson of Kilkenny County Council.
Cllr Andrew McGuinness posted this picture on social media of a large rock that landed on the laneway at Lacken Drive after a train passed.
He said he has raised the matter with Irish Rail and asked them to “rectify the problem urgently”.
Cllr McGuinness (pictured below) added: “I’ve had a number of complaints from residents in Lacken Drive regarding falling debris on the lane way every time a train passes on the neighboring train tracks.
“It can be very dangerous and residents have had a number of near incidents as a result.
“I walked through the area with residents and it’s a shame to see a problem like this unresolved when the residents do such a great job in looking after their area.”
