Search for missing Kilkenny man ends in tragedy as body found in derelict house

THE body of a young Kilkenny man who had been missing since Christmas week has been found in a derelict house in Carlow.

Rory Gahan, who was originally from Graiguenamanagh, was last seen on Tullow Street in Carlow on December 27.

He was reported as missing on January 1, and a media appeal for information on the whereabouts of the 34-year-old was issued last Friday.

Tragically, the search ended the same afternoon when the body of a man was discovered in a derelict building on the Old Dublin Road in Carlow.

Mr Gahan’s remains were removed to University Hospital Waterford.

Gardai confirmed to KilkennyNow.ie that a post mortem examination will be carried out on the remains today.

The autopsy results will determine the course of their investigation.
