Shopsafe: Gardai join forces with Kilkenny stores to keep shoppers safe in countdown to Christmas

Kilkenny gardai have launched a scheme with local businesses to keep shoppers and staff safe in the countdown to Christmas.

The reinvigorated Businesswatch Scheme – titled Shopsafe – is a joint initiative between local gardai and Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce.

The operation will involve co-ordinated and scheduled high visibility beat patrols in all areas of the city, with a significant retail presence at popular retail locations including High Street, John Street, Market Cross and MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre.

Kilkenny Chamber said: “The objective is that a highly visible beat presence will deter criminal activity and ensure safe shopping for all.”
