Showers and sunshine – brace yourself for another week of unsettled weather
SUMMER will remain a distant dream for now with cool and unsettled weather conditions set to continue for the week in Kilkenny and throughout most of the country.
Met Éireann has forecast more rain today in Kilkenny and the rest of Leinster, “some heavy and prolonged”, with the mercury set to rise to highs of just 14 degrees.
Wednesday will be another rather cool day, starting dry with some sunshine but showers will return in the afternoon, some heavy and thundery.
The national forecaster said Thursday will be a repeat of the previous day, with showers developing during the day, dying out at night and temperatures “remaining on the low side for the time of year”.
Friday and next weekend will also see a mix of cool temperatures, “with showers each day, but with dry and sunny periods also”.
Local weather guru Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather summed it up succinctly in a tweet last night: “Staying cool and unsettled for next seven days as summer is slow to get started. Trends show it may improve mid-month but that’s a long, long way off in weather terms.”
