BREAKING: Skeletal remains of woman found in ditch beside backpack in Co Wexford
A MAJOR Garda investigation is underway after the remains of a woman were found in a ditch in neighbouring Co Wexford.
The grim discovery was made by a woman who was walking her dog outside a rural village around 6km from Ferns at around noon.
The Garda Technical Bureau will attend the scene in the morning and the office of the State Pathologist has been informed.
A full post-mortem examination will be carried out of the remains tomorrow.
Gardaí believe the gender of the remains to be female. It is understood the remains, which were badly decomposed, were found beside a backpack.
