SPONSORED: Newpark Hotel to host ‘Downton Ball’ to raise funds for St Luke’s General Hospital

Are you a fan of the period drama television series ‘Downton Abbey’, or do you simply love the fashion of the era?

If so there’s an exciting event taking place in the city soon that will transport you back in time to play your own role in a version of the historical period drama. And it’s all for a very good cause.

On Saturday, February 15, Kilkenny’s Newpark Hotel will host the Downton Ball to help raise funds for the Friends of Saint Luke’s General Hospital Carlow/Kilkenny.

The charity, established in 1991, supports the work of all the staff at St Luke’s to ensure patients get the best available treatment and service to aid their recovery.

The charity has purchased various lifesaving equipment over the years and are currently fundraising for a Transfer Ventilator to facilitate the safer transfer of small and young infants and children to the intensive care units in Crumlin and Temple Street Hospital.

This elegant 1920’s themed event will commence with a drink’s reception and canapes from 7pm. The attendees will be called into Newpark Hotel’s stunning ballroom at 7.45 pm where they will be treated to a sumptuous four course meal. The Lords & Ladies can then dance the night away to The Honey Dews Swing Band.  The attire for the evening is optional, upstairs 1920’s or formal wear.

Paul Beehan, General Manager of Newpark Hotel said: “We are delighted to be hosting this glamourous event and looking forward to help raise some funds for Friends of St Luke’s General Hospital.”

Barbara Scholfield, Secretary of The Friends of St Lukes General Hospital, added: “We are thrilled to have been selected as the chosen charity for this event. The donation raised for the night will bring us a step closer to having the funds needed to purchase a Transfer Ventilator which will facilitate the safer transfer of young infants to intensive care units in both Crumlin and Temple Street Hospital.”

Tickets for the event are €50 and are available via Eventbrite or at the Hotel’s Reception. For Overnight Packages please contact the Reservation department on +353 567760502 or email reservations@newparkhotel.com.
