Sun-sational week continues: Kilkenny to bask in 16C temperatures today

TODAY’S weather forecast will put a Spring in your step as temperatures rise to up 16 degrees again in Kilkenny and parts of Leinster.

Met Éireann said it will be another it will be another dry and unseasonably mild February day, adding: “After early mist clears, good sunshine will develop widely, though low cloud may linger near the coast. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees.”

This week will go down as the hottest in February in nearly 60 years as temperatures of up to 17 degrees were recorded across the country.

While the UK is basking in unseasonable 20 degrees heat, Ireland is experiencing slightly milder, but pleasant, conditions which will continue today.

Yesterday’s sunshine was a stark difference compared to this time last year, when the country was bracing itself for the infamous ‘Beast from the East’.

However, conditions are set to get more unsettled from tomorrow and into the weekend.

Temperatures will drop to between 11 degrees and 14 degrees, with cloud and some rain predicted.

Rain will become more persistent on Friday, and the weekend will be more unsettled.

Met Éireann’s Vincent O’Shea said: “There won’t be a dramatic change on Thursday and Friday, but the mercury levels will peg back slightly with a bit more cloud. However, it will still be quite pleasant out, with only a small chance of rain.”
