Teen ends up in hospital following Kilkenny city assault

A teenager ended up in St Luke’s Hospital after being viciously set upon in what appears to be an unprovoked attack in Kilkenny City.

The incident happened at 11.30pm on Sunday in Springfield on the Waterford Road in the city.

The male in his teens was waiting outside a friend’s house for a lift when he was approached by another male who started to punch the teen.

The teen received numerous punches to the head and face which resulted in severe bruising and swelling.

After the attack, the teen was brought to St Luke’s Hospital to receive medical attention.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who has information about this vicious assault or who may have witnessed it happening to contact them at Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
