The Big Build – construction set to start on €3.3 million county Kilkenny social housing scheme

A €3.3 million social housing scheme in county Kilkenny is set to start construction shortly.
The 22-unit social housing project at Station Avenue, Ballyragget is one step closer to realisation, as the construction contract was signed off.
The Ballyragget project is due to be completed in late 2020 and will comprise of:
- Six 1-bed units
- Ten 2-bed units
- Four 3-bed houses
- Two 4-bed houses
Kilkenny County Council has appointed Thomas Kelly and Sons Ltd of Portlaoise, Co. Laois, to be the main contractors on the project. The development is being funded by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, under the Rebuilding Ireland Programme.
Councillor John Brennan, Chair of the Castlecomer Municipal District said: “I am very pleased to see this development going on-site, it is a very positive start to the new Council term and it is great to see the Local Authority’s housing construction programme progressing at pace.”
