The brutal abduction and murder of Phyllis Murphy in December 1979 gripped he whole country.
Phyllis Murphy was just 23 when she disappeared from a bus stop in Kildare during one of the coldest winters in living memory yet a search party of more than 3000 people raised from the Kildare area could not find any sign of Phyllis during the Christmas season.
Her body was eventually discovered in the Wicklow Mountains. She had been strangled and had 25 separate injuries to her body.
This programme features interviews with Phyllis’ sister and brother, Barbara Luker – Phyllis’s friend. It also features input from those involved in the case and those who covered the death’s aftermath, including from KCLR’s Eimear.
