Thief legs it after being rumbled stealing catalytic converters in Kilkenny town

A thief was caught in the act while trying to remove a catalytic converter from a car in a county Kilkenny town.

The attempted theft occurred in an estate in Callan late on Monday evening, May 25.

Although the thief was disturbed, it was discovered later they had earlier managed to take a catalytic convertor from another car in the same estate.

Another two catalytic converters were stolen from the nearby village of Mullinahone in neighbouring county Tipperary on the same night.

Gardai believe the gang would have had to have transport to carry the convertors and move between areas.

Anyone with information or who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Callan area at that time is asked to contact Callan Garda Station on 056 770 6630.
