Thieves distract elderly Kilkenny woman and make off with her purse

An elderly Kilkenny lady had her purse stolen from her car while trying to help out a stranger in need.

The incident happened in Loughboy last Friday afternoon. The elderly woman had just returned to her car when a female approached her on her passenger side door.

The female asked the elderly lady for change so she could make a phone call but was using this as a distraction. While the elderly lady’s attention was elsewhere, someone managed to snatch her purse without her noticing and disappeared.

Gardai are asking anyone who may have been in the Loughboy area last Friday afternoon and noticed anything suspicious, or who may have seen the incident, to contact them at Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
