Two further deaths and more new cases recorded in Kilkenny as households restrictions ‘to stay for months’
There was two further death from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland in the last 24 hours, the HSE said this evening.
The total death toll here is now 1,783 while the number of confirmed cases has now reached 30,730 after another 159 people were diagnosed.
Of the cases notified today:
- 70 are men / 89 are women
- 65% are under 45 years of age
- 51% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
- 23 cases have been identified as community transmission
- 75 in Dublin, 10 in Louth, 6 in Cork, 6 in Donegal, 6 in Meath, 5 in Laois, 5 in Wexford, and the remaining 46 cases are in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Mayo, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath and Wicklow.
Meanwhile, the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has said that the number of people allowed visit Dublin homes is is to be reduced to six people from two households.
Nationwide, household visitor restrictions are expected to remain in place for several months, even when the incidence of Covid-19 is at a low level.
Currently, no more than six people are allowed to visit a house from no more than three households.
