Vehicle stopped on Kilkenny road had no tax for 10 years and green diesel

Local gardai did a double take after they stopped this jeep and discovered it hadn’t been taxed for almost a decade.

The vehicle was stopped by members of the Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit in Johnstown this morning after the driver was seen on his mobile phone and not wearing a seat belt.

Using the Garda mobility app, officers discovered the car hadn’t been taxed for 3,319 days.

And the vehicle was found to be using illegal green diesel.

A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Customs Officers from Kilkenny attended and sampled the fuel. Prosecutions to follow for all offences. Vehicle seized under Section 41 of RTA.”
