Kilkenny city named Ireland’s most enterprising town

Kilkenny City has been named Ireland’s most enterprising town for 2019, beating off stiff competition from 78 other entrants.

Along with winning the overall prize at the Bank of Ireland National Enterprise Town Awards, Kilkenny picked up the regional and national awards for towns with a population over 12,000 people, a trophy and a cash prize of €33,000.

In a good night for Kilkenny projects, Callan was named as regional runner up in their section.

The KBK Village Renewal Group – consisting of Knocktopher, Ballyhale and Knockmoylan was also nominated but did not receive an award.

The gala awards night was held in Kilkenny’s Lyrath Estate Hotel last night and Kilkenny city was presented with its award by Enterprise Minister Heather Humphreys.
