Walkway to revamped terrace at Kilkenny River Court Hotel reopens
THE walkway to the Kilkenny River Court Hotel’s newly-revamped Sky Blue Terrace has reopened to the public.
The direct access to the terrace had been temporarily closed following the fire at the Bridge House on John Street late last year.
However, the walkway has now reopened to the public, and crowds have been flocking to the terrace, which recently underwent an extensive makeover, to enjoy one of Kilkenny’s finest views of the majestic Castle from the comfort of the riverside venue.
And in more good news, a new roof is currently being erected on the Bridge House following the blaze at the listed building.
Kilkenny River Court Hotel Marketing Manager Trish Murphy said: “We’re delighted the walkway has reopened and that members of the public can access the beautiful terrace directly from John’s Bridge.
“Walking down the steps onto the terrace gives you a sweeping view of the riverside and, of course, Kilkenny Castle, looming overhead.”
Trish said of the recent revamp of the terrace: “We wanted to develop the terrace to be the most tranquil and relaxed venue in the city for anyone who wants to drop by and soak up the magical medieval surroundings.
“With the River Nore underneath and the Castle looming overhead, we are really spoiled in terms of the location. So it was just a case of bringing a new look, albeit with an old feel, that was in sync with the stunning natural backdrop, and of course to make it that extra bit more comfortable for our customers.”
