WATCH: ‘So very grateful’ – Kilkenny hero cancer campaigner begins treatment in US as new Vice PresientKamala gets Covid jab next door

Hero cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan has shared her excitement after receiving the first dose of experimental treatment at a US clinic.

The Cervical check campaigner and mother of two from Mooncoin also tweeted her joy to find out recently inaugurated US Vice President Kamala Harris was in the same facility as Vicky to receive the Covid-19 jab yesterday afternoon.

Vicky (46) posted a video to her Twitter account from a room in the National Institute of Health in Maryland telling her follower she began her treatment.

The Kilkenny native has been in the US for the past two weeks preparing for the new cancer treatment which she has signed up to trial, called M7824.

“Just finished my very first dose of my new treatment here at the amazing @NIH,” Vicky Phelan said.

“I am so very grateful that I found this trial and took the gamble. I won’t get too many severe side effects

“Something really interesting happened here actually. In the next couple of minutes Vice President Kamala Harris is actually going to be here having her second dose of the coronavirus vaccine so that’s live on Twitter so I’m going to watch that here.

“Pity that it’s in another part of the building,” Vicky concluded.
