WEEKEND FORECAST: Sure it’s only weather for nibbles and Netflix anyway …

With the unprecedented emergency measures announced by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar yesterday most people will probably be taking the wise advice and staying indoors this weekend.

If it’s any consolation, the weather is pretty miserable anyway so you may as well kick back and enjoy a Netflix and chill weekend at home!

Met Éireann said the weather will remain changeable and unsettled throughout Kilkenny and most of the country over the coming days.

The national forecaster said today will be dry in most places, with some bright or sunny intervals.

However, outbreaks of rain will move into the southwest later this morning and gradually spread into Munster, Connacht and Leinster through the afternoon and evening.

It will be dry in most areas tomorrow morning, but rain will move into western areas during the morning and spread eastwards throughout the day “with some heavy falls possible” and highest temperatures of between 7 to 11 degrees.

Sunday looks set to be a cold and rainy day too. Met Éireann warned: “Some heavy showers with hail and a risk of isolated thunderstorms. Top temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.”

Current forecasts suggest a dry start to Monday with sunny spells, especially in the south and east of the country.
