WEATHER FORECAST: Kilkenny to see glimpses of summer sun as unsettled conditions continue
After a fairly miserable June and July, most of us have been praying for a sunny August as the country acclimatises to the age of the staycation.
Early indications suggest the weather in Kilkenny will remain unsettled and changeable for the early part of the week.
But Met Éireann has some more positive news for the latter part of the week and says we may see some summer temperatures as next weekend approaches.
Today will be cool and mainly dry and a little warmer, with maximum temperatures of between 15 to 18 degrees.
Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, with rain clearing northeastwards in the early morning and the mercury rising to between 17 and 22 degrees. “Good dry spells will develop in most areas, with some bright spells in the east, but staying mostly cloudy,” said Met Éireann.
The outlook for Wednesday is largely positive, with bright and sunny spells developing, albeit with some scattered showers in parts and maximum temperatures of between 16 and 21 degrees.
Thursday will be dry in most areas, with a mix of cloud and bright or sunny spells but patches of mist, drizzle and fog may occur, especially in southern and western coastal areas, with temperatures rising to between 18 and 21 degrees.
The national forecaster said the outlook for Friday and next weekend is still “uncertain”, adding: “Early indications suggest that the weather will be unsettled overall, but quite warm.”
