BANK HOLIDAY WEATHER: Kilkenny’s in for another big change this weekend
Kilkenny and the south east can look forward to a largely dry Bank Holiday weekend as the weather takes another turn over the coming days.
However, Met Éireann warned rain will persist today, adding: “Showers or longer spells of rain in the west on Friday, better brighter spells generally in the east however some heavy or thundery showers will develop through the late morning and early afternoon. Highs of 16 to 20 degrees, warmest in the east in mostly moderate westerly breezes.”
Tomorrow will be cloudy to begin, with some light showers. The national forecaster added: “The showers more frequent through the afternoon but they will ease by evening time with some nice spells of sunshine developing. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees in a light northwesterly breeze.”
Met Éireann said there will be “a lot of cloud about on Sunday morning with well scattered showers”. But it added: “Mostly dry through the afternoon with some bright spells developing. The best of the sunshine will be towards evening. Highs of 16 to 19 degrees, in a light northerly breeze.”
It will be mostly dry on Bank Holiday Monday with sunny spells, but there will be a few scattered light showers too and temperature highs of 17 to 20 degrees.
Current indications suggest Tuesday will remain mostly dry, with rain pushing in from the west at night.
And Met Éireann added: “Then staying unsettled through Wednesday and Thursday with rain at times. Temperatures continuing around average for early August.”
