White and green day: Ballyhale retain county title as Tullaroan regain senior status
IT was a good afternoon for the team in white and green UPMC Nowlan Park as Ballyhale Shamrocks retained their Senior hurling title and Tullaroan picked up the intermediate title.
Ballyhale Shamrocks, the reigning county, Leinster and All-Ireland Champions overcame a plucky James Stephen’s team in the St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling final, to comfortably win on a scoreline of 2-21 to 1-15.
James Stephen’s took the early lead through a first minute goal but that was as good as it got for the city club. Ballyhale found the net after nine minutes to take the lead, and never looked back.
Earlier in the afternoon, Tommy Walsh’s inspirational second half display saw Tullaroan win the Intermediate title, beating Thomastown. In winning “The Sash” regain their senior status for next season.
