Green light for large new wind farm with 150m high turbines on Kilkenny border
A wind farm that will have turbines of 150 metres in height has been granted planning permission on the Kilkenny border.
As part of the development by Gromane Limited, a 38kv substation for the windfarm will be built at Killeen, near Kilmanagh.
A separate planning application with Kilkenny County Council is currently being reviewed which would see the creation of an underground grid connector to the substation to the windfarm.
Tipperary County Council granted planning permission to Gromane for the construction of the nine-turbine wind farm on a 61 hectare site at at Coolnashinnagh and Gortnasmuttaun, near Ballingarry in neighbouring county Tipperary.
The wind farm will replace a wind monitoring and meteorological mast which already exists on the site.
