Young boy knocked down by car in county Kilkenny rushed to hospital in Dublin
A young boy was seriously injured in after being struck by a vehicle in county Kilkenny last night.
The boy has now been moved to Temple Street Children’s hospital in Dublin where he is said to be in a serious condition.
The incident occurred on Station Road, Thomastown at approximately 7.50pm yesterday.
The boy, who was on foot at the time, was hit by a car.
He was removed from the scene by ambulance and taken to St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.
Due to the serious nature of his injuries, he has since been transferred to Temple Street Hospital.
The driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.
A forensic collision investigation took place at the scene and the road has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
A local Garda spokesperson said: “Any road users who were travelling on Station Road, Thomastown on the evening of Sunday and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Thomastown Garda Station on 056 775 4150.”
