5-star Kilkenny resort’s golf course plans back on track as objection is withdrawn

A development at one of Kilkenny’s most exclusive golf resorts can now go ahead after an objection lodged against the plans was withdrawn.

The owners of Mount Juliet Estate in Thomastown, MJBE Investments 3 Limited, made an application for the retention of planning permission that allowed them to remove the putting green course at Mount Juliet Estate.

The putting green covers 0.8 hectares at the estate and relates to development to the north of the Rose Garden Lodges and east of the Walled Garden Lodges.

Kilkenny County Council granted permission for the retention of the planning back in April 2019.

A month later, the Mount Juliet Estates Residents Group, appealed the council’s decision with An Bord Pleanála.

In the last week, this appeal was withdrawn from An Bord Pleanála, meaning the Estate can now proceed with their plans.

Mount Juliet has said no works will take place on any of the protected structures on the grounds of the estate.
