LAURA WARREN: How to become a lean, clean, eating machine
These days, with so many diets floating around, it can be very confusing for anyone to know which one to choose. And I don’t blame you for falling into the trap of yo-yo diet – we’ve all done it at some point!
Like many of you, I really love my food and I am lucky enough to have a fast metabolism. I take after my mum’s family in that regard, thank God! But as we get older it gets harder to maintain a nice physique, but there something certain things you can do that will guarantee really good results.
One of the best kept secrets when it comes to losing weight is through intermittent fasting. And the great thing is this is not even a diet! To be honest, I actually don’t believe in dieting per se and I don’t see the point in shedding the pounds for a period and then piling them back on later. When you go to lengths to deny yourself, your weight will fluctuate: it rarely is the long term answer.
Intermittent fasting is a pattern of eating, it’s a simple way of scheduling your meals to suit your lifestyle. It doesn’t change what you eat, it just changes when you eat.
Intermittent fasting is a great way to get lean without following some fad diet that is designed to fail, so you’ll return to splash out some more of your hard-earned Johnny cash. It’s also a really good way to keep muscle mass while getting lean. Allowing your body enough time every single day to digest, develop new cells eliminate dying cells is an easy habit that will get you closer to drinking straight out of the fountain of youth and looking younger and fitter – no matter how old you are!
Unfortunately, especially for women, when we overeat the weight goes straight to our bums, hips, and thighs – physiologically we mostly don’t get away with the same things that men do when it comes to eating.
So how does it work? Very simply put, intermittent fasting puts your body into a fat-burning state. To give you an example, my last meal every night is usually between 8pm and 9pm. My next meal the following day is usually between 11am and 12pm, which basically means I can be fasting for up for at least 12 hours. So my actual ‘eating window’ is the other 10 to 12 ‘waking’ hours, during which I can eat as much as I want to, as long as it’s the good stuff.
For me, Intermittent fasting makes my brain sharp and my body lean – and I still get to eat like a horse! It suits me personally, but I understand the 16:8 ratio may not suit everybody as one size never fits all on a healthy eating plan. For example, some of my clients are on the 5:2 method, while others are on the 14:10 method. There is a ratio to suit everybody and your body type, taking into account the individual demands of your working life and personal life.
One of the first things I noticed after I began intermittent fasting was how I woke up with far more energy and felt so much more rested. I buzz out of the bed every day and it puts me in great form. By combining intermittent fasting with breaking my refined sugar addiction has made life so much easier for me and you can do the same. Are up fed up of feeling tired, exhausted, moody, irritable and depressed? Sound familiar?
Another thing that gave me a ton of energy was breaking my addiction to refined sugar. Once you break the cycle of endless sugar consumption, you’ll no longer feel like you are living on an energy-sucking roller coaster. Sugar makes your blood sugar go sky-high – a reaction followed immediately by plummeting blood sugar. That crash and burn triggers feelings of irritability, depression, and leaves you exhausted until you get your next sugar fix.
To help people to get off the refined sugar rollercoaster and greatly improve their health and energy levels, I created the 7 day elite body cleanse program. So if you would like to avail of an opportunity to start this free programme, just pop over to my Instagram and send me a DM. NOTE: If you have low blood pressure or any concerns about your health, please consult your GP before starting intermittent fasting, the same applies for any new health regime you are considering.
