Exciting plans for two schools and sports hall on new Kilkenny city campus
Plans for a new campus with two post-primary schools in Kilkenny city have been lodged with the local authority.
Kilkenny and Carlow Educational Training Board (KCETB) has applied to the council for permission to construct the new 12,692.7 m2 campus at Poulgour, Wetlands, on the city’s western environs.
The plans include a new school with two separate two-storey blocks, including general classrooms, specialist rooms, offices, dining hall and kitchen and storage areas.
The second school would consist of a two-storey block for general classrooms, specialist rooms, offices, plant room, dining hall and kitchen.
The campus plans also provide for a new sports hall, featuring two fitness suites and associated changing and storage areas, and also an ESB substation, new vehicular access and three new pedestrian entrances to the site, serving Poulgour Road and the western environs Link Road.
KCETB is also seeking permission for an on-site set down area and staff car parking, along with ‘hard play’ and landscaped social areas.
Kilkenny County Council is expected to rule on the planning application for the new campus early in the New Year.
