All the ingredients for success: two local firms in line for Bord Bia awards

Kilkenny’s food industry could be set for a double boost as two iconic brands have been shortlisted for Bord Bia’s Food and Drink Awards 2019.

Glanbia and Dawn Meats are among 29 firms that will go forward to national finals in the RDS Concert Hall on November 27 which will be hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan.

More than 300 industry leaders will attend the awards which recognise excellence within the food industry.

Dawn Meats based in Grannagh, was established in 1980 and has been nominated in the Diversity and Inclusion award category.

The family-owned firm has over 7,300 people working for it in 22 different locations in Ireland, the UK, Europe and Asia.

Glanbia, which has 6,900 employees and was established in 1997, is nominated in a special category.

Glanbia Ireland in partnership with Kepak Group has been shortlisted in the Sustainability Project Impact category as part of Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme, having joined forces to create the Twenty20 Beef Club.

The Sustainability Project Impact Award. This prize recognises companies who have demonstrated outstanding environmental impact from a specific project.
