Almost €3,000 of drugs seized in separate raids within 24 hours in Kilkenny city
GARDAI in Kilkenny seized almost €3,000 of drugs in two similar raids on houses in Kilkenny city in the space of less than 24 hours.
Drugs with a combined estimated value of €1,000 were found during a planned raid on a house in the Vicar Street area of the city at 8pm last Wednesday.
A Garda source told KilkennyNow.ie one-and-a-half ounces of cannabis herb was found on the property, along with a “container of white powder” and weighing scales.
The following day, at around 4pm, members of the Garda Divisional Drugs Unit seized cannabis with an estimated value of €1,800 during a “planned search” on a house in the Johnswell Road area of the city. A weighing scales was also recovered in this raid.
In both cases a man was arrested and taken to Kilkenny Garda Station for questioning.
No charges have been brought in either case. It is understood files on both cases are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
