Popular Kilkenny hotel unveils major expansion plans
A well-known Kilkenny hotel is planning a major expansion, which would provide a significant boost to local tourism.
The Springhill Court Hotel has lodged a planning application with Kilkenny County Council to build 45 new rooms onto the existing building on the Waterford Road.
The hotel currently has 85 guest rooms. If the application is approved this number would rise 130 bedrooms.
The plans submitted by the company request permission to create a four storey-extension to the front and side of the existing building. This would include the addition of a new passenger lift.
As part of the plan, the Springhill Court Hotel limited is looking to reconfigure the current car park layout and provide more spaces and the installation of a new security barrier.
A decision on the extension is due by the end of January 2020.
