Another new development to drive on Kilkenny’s newest cinema

Kilkenny’s state of the art cinema on Barrack Street has lodged plans to cater for drive-in customers.
It’s the latest mooted development in the ongoing revamp of the cinema, which reopened its doors to the public last month after lockdown.
City Cinemas Limited is seeking permission from Kilkenny County Council to develop a new temperary car park for 62 spaces at the rear of the Barrack Street site.
They are requesting permission to provide the temperary car park for a period of five years, and to make “minor alterations” to the existing vehicle entrance off Barrack Street.
In January the local authority approved the cinema’s plans to increase its amount of screens, while at the same time reducing the overall amount of seats.
The council is expected to rule on the cinema owners’ car park application by the end of next month.
