Blockades continue outside Kilkenny meat plants as farmers dispute vote result
By COLIN BARTLEY
PROTESTERS remain outside a meat processing plant in Kilkenny despite a vote being passed to lift the blockade.
Despite earlier reports that protesters have lifted the blockade outside the ABP foods plant in Ferrybank, protesters remain on the gate blocking trucks from entering or exiting.
The protesters at the plant this morning are disputing the outcome of a vote taken last night.
Up to 70 farmers attended a meeting outside the ABP plant last night. After tense exchanges, the majority voted to end the blockade.
It was understood the blockade was to be immediately lifted, however, some protesters have remained on the site.
Meetings between the farmers are said to be ongoing.
The blockade continues at the other Kilkenny facility, Dawn Meats in Grannagh, with no end of the protest insight.
