BREAKING: Kilkenny among 429 new cases of virus as four further deaths confirmed

A further four more people have died after contracting the coronvairus as 429 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed this evening.
It brings the overall death toll as a result of the virus to 2,010. There are now 69,473 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the country, according to the latest daily briefing from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The breakdown of the latest cases is as follows: 173 are in Dublin, 44 in Cork, 26 in Donegal, 22 in Louth, 21 in Kildare with the remaining 143 cases spread across the remaining 20 counties, including Kilkenny where nine more infections were recorded.
The latest cases were confirmed as NPHET met again today amid growing concern that progress in tackling Covid-19 nationally appears to have slowed significantly over the past week.
The latest numbers show that new confirmed cases of the virus are running at just over 400 per week, largely unchanged on the figures recorded last week.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said he is becoming increasingly concerned that the progress made during the first three weeks of the Level 5 restrictions has not been maintained.
