Thieves make off with €10,000 worth of goods after break-in at rural Kilkenny home

THIEVES made off with a massive haul of stolen machinery worth €10,000 after they broke into a property in county Kilkenny.

The burglary occurred in Clonassey, Mullinavat, sometime between 8.30am and 10.20am last Thursday, gardai confirmed to KilkennyNow.ie.

The daughter of the owner of the house returned home to discover the lock on the garage door was broken.

Several valuable pieces of machinery and equipment were stolen, with an estimated total value of €10,000. An attempt was also made to gain entry to the house.

Gardai arrived at the scene a short time later.

The stolen items include:
*An Ifor Williams trailer valued at €2,500;
*A Honda petrol power washer valued at €750;
*A Husqvarna lawn mower mulcher valued at €750;
*A Honda petrol generator valued at €750;
*A welder valued at €750;
*A Husqvarna chain saw valued at €730;
*A magnetic drill valued at €700;
*A Husqvarna hedge trimmer valued at €450;
*A Bosch commercial drill valued at €450.

Gardai have urged potential buyers to beware if they are offered these type of goods for sale over the coming weeks.

They have also asked anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the break-in to contact Mullinavat Garda Station on 051 898 122.
