Burst water main cuts off supply to county Kilkenny town and several villages
A burst water mains has cut off the water supply to more than a thousand homes in county Kilkenny this morning.
Irish Water and Kilkenny County Council are currently carrying out repairs to a burst water main near Thomastown.
The necessary works mean there is no supply to most parts of Dangan, Carrickmourne, Inistioge, Thomastown and surrounding areas this morning.
Roadworks are also in place due to the burst mains and a traffic management plan will be in place for the duration of these works.
It is expected to have the repairs completed in the afternoon and the supply fully restored sometime this evening.
Irish Water and Kilkenny County Council apologise for any inconvenience caused.
