Kilkenny family shocked after cash and jewellery stolen from home in countdown to Christmas

A well-tooled burglar stole cash, jewellery and electrical items from a house in county Kilkenny while the owner was away at work.

The incident happened in the centre of Stoneyford yesterday between 11am and 7.30pm.

The burglar made a number of attempts to get into the house before finally breaking the window of the back door to gain access. When the owner returned they noticed tool marks and damage around the doorframe and other windows.

Once inside the burglar ransacked the house and managed to make off with cash, four pieces of expensive jewellery as well as an expensive camera.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information or who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Stoneyford area at the time to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.
