Covid-19: New Kilkenny volunteer groups emerge from crisis to help those who need it most

The current coronavirus emergency has brought about a renewed sense of community spirit and out of this a number of Kilkenny volunteer groups have been formed with the aim of helping those who need it most.

The groups have now grown from that and are quickly becoming a local coronavirus forum, a vital source for interaction and information, as well as people offering their time and services to help out the cause.

The ‘Kilkenny Covid 19 Community Support Group’ group was set up over the weekend, while the ‘Kilkenny Covid-19 Volunteers’ group was formed just today. So far the groups have more than 7,000 members between them all willing to do their bit in this community effort.

People have been flocking to the Facebook pages to offer their service and time, whether it be shopping or picking up prescriptions for the elderly or vulnerable or being able to direct people towards tradespeople, healthcare professionals, online school lessons, council information, groups volunteering their time, child minders etc.

The groups can be found on Facebook at the following address – https://www.facebook.com/groups/142785810415016/ or https://www.facebook.com/KilkennyVolunteers/.
