Days of Thunder: Warning as lightning set to strike twice in Kilkenny
There’s going to be no let-up to the muggy and stormy weather we’ve experienced over the past 24 hours. Met Éireann has issued yet another thunder warning for Kilkenny this afternoon.
It comes hot on the heels of last night’s ferocious thunder and lightning strikes in partys of the county – and today’s storms may not be last.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Thunder warning for this afternoon, which the forecaster warned could last for most of the day.
And this may not be the end of it as weather models are predicting we could have more electric storms tomorrow, with temperatures set to soar into the high 20’s, making for some uncomfortable conditions.
Met Éireann said today: “Thunderstorms will likely develop this afternoon and evening. Due to the localised nature of thunderstorm activity some areas will escape completely, but areas impacted will see torrential downpours with possible hail, leading to some spot flooding.”
The warning is valid from 3pm today until midnight.
